This round, we dive into the wallets of our very own Marketing &amp; Content Team.<\/p> \n<p> \n <!--more--><\/p> \n<h4><b> Do you buy Christmas gifts and what\u2019s your budget for gifts this year?<\/b><\/h4> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Kee Hong:<\/strong> No, I don\u2019t usually do it for Christmas. In money-saving mode so not prepared to spend on Christmas gifts this year either.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Lord:<\/strong> It depends, but if I do, it\u2019s probably more towards spending on a Christmas dinner &#8211; RM300?<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vino:<\/strong> Yes of course i do! This year i have set aside RM300. But this includes presents for the entire family. I&#8217;m the thrifty Santa!<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Zo\u00eb:<\/strong> I\u2019ve budgeted a maximum of RM500 for gifts. Mostly are just little gestures wrapped beautifully so there\u2019s excitement when unwrapping their gifts.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/3oz8xBkRsgPTnbK1GM\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p> \n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/gifs\/dance-loop-christmas-3oz8xBkRsgPTnbK1GM\">via GIPHY<\/a><\/p> \n<p>&nbsp;<\/p> \n<h4><b> What else do you spend on besides gifts for Christmas?<\/b><\/h4> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Kee Hong:<\/strong> Good food and drinks, a night of movie marathon with my friends. You don\u2019t need to spend a lot to have a good time with good company.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Lord<\/strong>: A nice hearty Christmas dinner for the family or with friends.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vino:<\/strong> Food, Drinks, Food, Movie oh and did I mention food? <\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Zo\u00eb:<\/strong> Food and groceries for Christmas day lunch at my home.<\/span><\/p> \n<p>&nbsp;<\/p> \n<h4><b> What\u2019s the most expensive Christmas gift you\u2019ve ever given?<\/b><\/h4> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Kee Hong:<\/strong> Don\u2019t remember\u2026.. probably never given any so far.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Lord:<\/strong> I\u2026 don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever given one&#8230;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p> \n<p><\/p> \n<div class=\"caption\"> \n <a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/f.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net\/hubfs\/25174313\/Imported_Blog_Media\/Surprised-Pikachu.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-27933 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/144634072.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net\/hubfs\/144634072\/assets_comparehero\/Surprised-Pikachu-300x300.jpg?resize=300%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\"><\/a> So ungrateful! \n<\/div> \n<p><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vino:<\/strong> Hand Phone (Not so expensive one)<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Zo\u00eb:<\/strong> A new fridge! It was a combined gift for my parents. It didn\u2019t fit under the tree and I had to purchase it with an EPP (easy payment plan).<\/span><\/p> \n<p>&nbsp;<\/p> \n<h4><b> Best places to buy inexpensive gifts?<\/b><\/h4> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Kee Hong:<\/strong> Departmental stores such as Parkson, Isetan, Aeon, occasionally S&amp;J Gift Shop for quirky stuff.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Lord:<\/strong> Daiso and Mr. DIY &#8211; hands down! It\u2019s the thought that counts\u2026 right?<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vino:<\/strong> Giant! Just kidding. Daiso, Brands Outlet<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Zo\u00eb:<\/strong> Daiso! And Shopee.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/f.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net\/hubfs\/25174313\/Imported_Blog_Media\/2orux7.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27930\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/144634072.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net\/hubfs\/144634072\/assets_comparehero\/2orux7.jpg?resize=568%2C335&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"568\" height=\"335\"><\/a><\/p> \n<p>&nbsp;<\/p> \n<h4><b> Do you go away for Christmas or New Year? And where do you go?<\/b><\/h4> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Kee Hong:<\/strong> I\u2019m heading to Bangkok to celebrate 2019 New Year with my girlfriend. It has sort of become our annual ritual by now and I really look forward to it.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Lord:<\/strong> No, it\u2019s usually just hanging around KL. The crowd is crazy lah!<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vino:<\/strong> Rare. Mostly house parties. Jam Jam Jam! Love BBQ too! <\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Zo\u00eb:<\/strong> It\u2019s too expensive and too crowded to go anywhere for Christmas or New Year. I have however planned a short and cheap getaway after the crowd disperses, first weekend of January.<\/span><\/p> \n<p>&nbsp;<\/p> \n<h4><b> Best money saving tip you learnt this year?<\/b><\/h4> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Kee Hong:<\/strong> Rich people spend money to save time; poor people waste time to save on money. Sometimes it is worth paying a premium to save you a lot of time and trouble.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Lord:<\/strong> I learnt that just simply saving money isn\u2019t enough. Do something with it, like investing.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vino:<\/strong> Before you buy ask yourself (Do you RREEEEAAAAAALLLY need it?) <\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Zo\u00eb:<\/strong> I learnt to make an an effort to use the coupons, vouchers, discounts and rebates from apps and loyalty programs. I can easily say I\u2019ve saved over RM1000 in 2018.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-27937 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/144634072.fs1.hubspotusercontent-eu1.net\/hubfs\/144634072\/assets_comparehero\/meme-save-money-300x268.jpg?resize=300%2C268&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"268\"><\/p> \n<h4><b> What\u2019s the biggest financial mistake you\u2019ve made this year?<\/b><\/h4> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Kee Hong:<\/strong> I am still struggling to save up enough emergency funds, in preparation for future rainy days.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Lord:<\/strong> Paying for an overpriced watch battery in a brick &amp; mortar store instead of just buying it online at 1\/5th of the in-store price. Never going back there.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vino:<\/strong> Buying a silly gym equipment that I still don&#8217;t know how to use!<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Zo\u00eb:<\/strong> Not investing in gold and P2P. I should have but I was just too lazy to do it.<\/span><\/p> \n<p>&nbsp;<\/p> \n<h4><b> Your most expensive impulse buy this year is?<\/b><\/h4> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Kee Hong:<\/strong> I don\u2019t have any impulse buy this year lol. I did buy more clothes, but clothes are a necessity \ud83d\ude1b<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Lord:<\/strong> An action camera that I don\u2019t think I have been using as much as I should.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><strong>Vino: <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eau de Parfum ( More expensive than the usual ones i buy)<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Zo\u00eb:<\/strong> Hair treatment serums from US. Also turned out to be the best buy I made this year. But I have been donating my older clothes and toys away \ud83d\ude00 <\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vino:<\/strong> Skip! Next question please <\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Zo\u00eb:<\/strong> No. (*Feeling really embarrassed now)<\/span><\/p> \n<p>&nbsp;<\/p> \n<h4><b> What is your financial resolution for 2019?<\/b><\/h4> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Kee Hong:<\/strong> Build a good stash of rainy day fund and generate passive income streams online.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Lord:<\/strong> Increase my investments and having a less-cluttered life.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vino:<\/strong>To save 50% of my income (I kinda think i can do it- fingers crossed)<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Zo\u00eb:<\/strong> Start diversifying investments.
