A Malaysian man took to the \u66b4\u8d70\u54e1\u5de5 Boom Go Employee<\/a><\/span> Facebook page to share a ridiculous work situation that he once found himself in. His now former colleague from the same department had a crush on an HR girl who casually mentioned that a Marshall speaker would be perfect for her new place.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, my ex-colleague (from the same department) had his eyes on a girl from HR. It just so happened that during a lunch break shopping trip, she saw a Marshall speaker that she really liked.<\/p>\n

HR girl: My new house is only missing this Marshall speaker, but it\u2019s too expensive.
Colleague: Do you prefer white or black?
HR girl: The white one is really cute, but forget it, it\u2019s too expensive and not worth it.<\/p>\n

A week before her birthday, I suddenly received a message from my colleague.\u201d<\/p>\n

The colleague decided to surprise her with that very speaker for her birthday. Sweet idea if it was his own pay-out, but he did something eyebrow-raising instead. He began dragging others into the plan, including the original poster, who barely exchanged a greeting with the HR girl. <\/p>\n

Just a week before her birthday, the colleague sent a message asking him to chip in for the RM2,100 gift total. That meant RM300 each, a chunk equivalent to nearly 2 weeks of the man\u2019s food budget. <\/p>\n

\u201cBro, RM300 was almost 2 weeks of my food budget, and you\u2019re asking me to pool money so you can chase a girl???\u201d, the man exclaimed.<\/p>\n

The OP then explained to his colleague that he was not even friends with the HR girl and that she didn\u2019t even wish him for his birthday. But the blindly-in-love colleague still did not budge from his decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe: Eh bro, I\u2019m not even close to her. On my birthday she didn\u2019t get me anything, not even a \u2018happy birthday\u2019.<\/p>\n

Colleague: Didn\u2019t HR make you a birthday poster?<\/p>\n

Me: Come on, that\u2019s given to everyone. It\u2019s literally her job in the HR department.<\/p>\n

Colleague: Don\u2019t be so petty. She was probably busy and forgot.\u201d<\/p>\n

The next day, the OP got a call after work reminding him to transfer that money so the speaker purchase could go ahead. All he could think was \u201cWhy should I pay RM300 just so you can impress someone I do not even know?\u201d<\/p>\n

Did the colleague and HR girl end up together?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If you\u2019re wondering what happened to the \u201cpotential couple\u201d, well\u2026 they never ended up together. She celebrated her birthday dinner with another guy instead, eventually resigned and joined another company. The next year, she got married, got pregnant, and moved on with life. As for his ex-colleague, the chap is still single, and still working at the same company.<\/p>\n

The post blew up because many Malaysians felt the audacity was too real, asking others to fund a romantic gesture for a person with no mutual connection struck a raw nerve.<\/p>\n
