Generali Malaysia provides only one travel insurance plan - their signature SmartTraveller plan which is then further categorized as below:

Areas of coverage

Not all insurance companies provide coverage for the same countries. Generali Malaysia separates its covered countries into 3 areas:

Area 1: Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China (excluding Mongolia, Nepal & Tibet), Hong Kong, Macau, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Myanmar (Burma), New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Area 2: All countries worldwide EXCLUDING USA, Canada, Iran, Syria, Belarus, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Crimea (including Sevastopol), Russia, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, and Malaysia.

As with most other insurance companies, Generali Malaysia does not provide coverage for general exclusions such as losses arising from pre-existing medical conditions, suicide, or self-harm as well as alcohol and drugs. Other exclusions include losses arising from:

  • Air travel other than a fare-paying passenger (such as a flight attendant)
  • Extreme activities such as racing, mountaineering, rock climbing, hiking without a licensed guide, and any airborne activity such as parachuting and skydiving. 
  • Sports or games where you would receive income or remuneration from

Who is eligible to apply?
You are eligible to apply if you qualify as any of the below. For the annual travel insurance, individuals who are not eligible include students studying overseas and employees under overseas secondment.

  • Malaysian
  • Permanent resident
  • Holder of employment pass or work permit
  • Dependent pass holders

What are the age requirements?

  • Individual: Between 18 - 69 years old
  • Child under the Family plan: Between 30 days - 18 years old, or up to 23 years old if studying full-time in a recognized institution of higher learning

Fees and charges
Generali Malaysia imposes a stamp duty of RM10 for all premiums under their travel insurance plans.

FAQ
Is there a maximum period of cover?
For single-trip travel insurance, the maximum coverage period is 190 days. For annual travel insurance, the maximum coverage period is 95 days per trip, with an unlimited number of trips within the period of insurance stated in the Certificate of Insurance.

Are there any special coverages?
If you’re looking for special coverage for terrorism, scuba diving, winter sports and natural disasters, you’re in luck as Generali Malaysia does provide them at an extra premium.
