Among the well-known websites that aggregate flights, hotels and even bundled deals, CompareHero.my have decided to investigate and compare the best travel deals from the most significant two, Expedia and Traveloka to help you to make a better choice if you are looking to travel in the near future.

We have chosen three popular destinations for Malaysian tourists including Bangkok, Bali and Phuket. With the trip duration set from 23^rd to 27^th December, here are some of the attractive deals you can get from both Expedia and Traveloka:

Traveloka does not offer bundle deals for flight and hotels, so the hotel options are separate. Below are some of the best deals we found:

The best flight deal we found was offered by AirAsia at RM574.03 per person (1,148.06 for two persons). As for hotels, below are the best 3 deals on Traveloka. Since they don’t offer bundle deal, you need to pick the hotel of your own choice separately.

• Legian Beach and Double Six Beach are located nearby
• Rooftop swimming pool with views of the Kuta Beach
• It’s located near the airport however this also means it is not located near Kuta
• WiFi at public areas of the hotel

Berry Hotel by Avilla Hospital RM409.20 for four nights

• Strategically located near Kuta Beach
• Many eateries are also located nearby
• Ideal to stay for families

HARRIS Hotel & Residences Riverview Kuta RM527 for four nights

• About 10 minutes-walk away from Kuta beach

From the several deals we found, Expedia only costs RM1527.36 while Traveloka offers RM1557.06. Despite the minor differences, it is easier for you to get bundled deal through Expedia rather than having to book both flight and hotel deals charged at higher price from Traveloka.

With this platform, the best rate for a flight to Bangkok during the chosen date is RM561.08 from Malaysia Airlines. As for hotel options, below are some of the best deals we found:

• Ideal for those who are looking for a budget hotel without skimping on comfort.
• WiFi access across public areas of the hotel, supermarket nearby and various other facilities. However, limited hours for room service.

My Hotel Pratunam    RM653 for four nights

• Historical and shopping attractions located nearby such as the Suan Pakkard Palace and Pantip Plaza.
• WiFi access at public areas of the hotel, business center, grocery store and even a hair salon.
• Ideal model budget hotel for those looking for an affordable accommodation.

Marvin Suites     RM583 for four nights

• Located near the famous Patpong Night Markt and the Sri Mariammam Temple

For this destination, we found that you can get a better deal when booking through Traveloka as you can get hotel and flight for less than RM1,200. However, through Expedia the deals we found were mostly more than RM1,300. Therefore, although bundle deals such as through Expedia can offer convenience but it doesn’t always mean cheaper.

Phuket

For the same travel date (from 23^rd to 27^th December), Expedia offers several attractive deals at decent hotels with great review for less than RM1,000 per person. Here are the deals:

The Sixteenth Naiyang Beach Hotel RM1,457.48 for two persons

• 3 star hotel

For this round, Traveloka scores the best deal as it offers only at RM1165.57 (cheapest deal from the chosen three) while Expedia offers RM1457.48 for the cheapest deal among the three.

*Take note that these deals are selected based on general preference such as budget and average young travellers’ preference, the deals will change from time to time based on airlines and hotel providers. To make sure you get the best deal, research through these two platforms and other tools  available.

Travel Tips To Save Money

If you’d like to stretch your money further while you travel, make sure you use an optimized credit card such as those which give you extra points when you swipe overseas. By doing so, you can collect more points or cashback while enjoying your holidays!

Aside from that, if you are an avid traveler you can collect airmiles by using the right credit card and then redeem free flight tickets.

Although Expedia offer bundle deals for flight and hotel, as per our observation it was not always cheaper as Traveloka which offers separate flight and hotel booking sometimes provided cheaper deals. So remember to do a bit of homework by comparing to get the best travel deals!
