What Is Bank Rakyat Perodua Credit Card-i
Bank Rakyat and Perodua's co-branded Mastercard is open only to Perodua customers and Perodua/PDA staff.
It gives you 5x Rakyat Rewards points on petrol, car servicing, Takaful and EV charging. You also pay no foreign currency mark-up, get free Group Family Takaful cover with RM1,000 Khairat Kematian, and get up to 3% back on profit charges.
As an Islamic card, it charges profit rather than interest, based on a Murabahah contract using Tawarruq.
5x Points On Petrol, Servicing, Takaful And EV Charging
Every RM10 you spend at petrol stations, car service centres, on Takaful and at EV chargers earns 5x Rakyat Rewards points. All other retail spending earns 1 point per RM10.
Each 10 points is worth RM0.10 in cash, so you get 0.5% back on car spending and 0.1% on everything else. Spend RM1,000 a month on petrol, servicing and Takaful, and that's 500 points, or RM5.
Points last 3 years and can be redeemed on the Perodua loyalty platform.
Only local, Shariah-compliant transactions get 5x points, and the merchant must be registered under one of these Merchant Category Codes (MCC): 5411 and 5542 for petrol stations, 5532, 7538 and 5521 for car services, 5552 for EV charging, and 5960 and 6300 for Takaful. If a workshop or petrol station is registered under another code, you'll get 1 point per RM10.
Annual Fee Waived With No Conditions
You don't pay an annual fee on the principal or supplementary cards, and there's no spending or usage requirement to keep it that way.
Principal cardholders must be at least 21 years old (18 for supplementary cardholders) and earn RM24,000 a year or more, which works out to RM2,000 a month.
Pay On Time For A Lower Profit Rate
Your profit rate depends on your payment record. Pay at least the minimum on time for 9 months straight, and you'll be charged 13.5% p.a. rather than the maximum 18% p.a. If you're a Bank Rakyat share member, it drops to 13.0% p.a.
Rakyat Rebate Of Up To 3% On Profit Charges
Rakyat Rebate gives you back part of the profit you're charged, and the rate goes up over your first 3 years. Each part has its own condition, and you need to meet all three to reach 3% in year three:
| Rebate Criteria | Year 1 | Year 2 | Year 3 |
| Auto debit facility | 0.5% | 0.5% | 0.5% |
| Good paymaster | 1.0% | 1.0% | 1.5% |
| Other financing facilities at Bank Rakyat | 0.5% | 1.0% | 1.0% |
| Total Rakyat Rebate | 2.0% | 2.5% | 3.0% |
Bank Rakyat applies the rebate to your outstanding balance on statement date. Profit is only charged when you carry a balance, so if you pay in full every month, there's no profit to rebate.
Free Group Family Takaful And RM1,000 Khairat Kematian
The card comes with free Group Family Takaful cover that pays off your outstanding card balance. If the cardholder passes away, their beneficiary also receives RM1,000 in Khairat Kematian.
No Foreign Currency Mark-Up And 0% Instalments
Many banks add 1% to 3% to every foreign currency transaction. This card charges only Mastercard's exchange rate, both overseas and when you shop online in another currency.
You can also turn retail purchases of RM1,000 and above into 0% instalments.
