What is Icon Everest Credit Personal Financing-i?
Icon Everest Credit Personal Financing-i is a Shariah-compliant, unsecured personal financing facility from Icon Everest Credit Sdn Bhd, a licensed lender in Malaysia. It runs on the Commodity Murabahah (Tawarruq) structure, which means your profit rate is locked in from the start with no floating rates and no compounding charges.
What can you use it for?
The financing is open for any personal use, whether that's covering medical costs, home expenses, or other personal needs. The only restriction is that it cannot be used for non-halal goods or services. You don't need a guarantor or any collateral to apply.
Profit rates and repayment
The profit rate goes up to 2.5% per month on a flat rate basis, meaning profit is calculated on your original financing amount throughout the entire tenure rather than on the reducing balance. Your actual rate will only be confirmed in Icon Everest Credit's Letter of Offer once your application is approved.
To give you a rough idea: a RM10,000 financing at 3% per month over 24 months works out to RM716.67 per month. When you're ready to apply, it's worth running the numbers for your own financing amount and tenure before committing.
What are the applicable fees?
A few costs are deducted from your financing amount before disbursement, so the amount you receive will be less than what you applied for:
- Wakalah Fee: RM25
- Recovery of Administrative Costs: 10% of your financing amount
- Stamp Duty: 0.5% under the Stamp Duty Act 1949
There's no handling fee and no early settlement fee. If you ever need a statement, it costs RM10 per request.
Can I settle the financing early?
You can pay off the full amount any time before your tenure ends. Icon Everest Credit will grant a rebate (Ibra') on whatever profit hasn't been earned yet, minus any applicable early settlement charges. Just give them 3 months' written notice before your intended settlement date.
How can I make my monthly payments?
Payments can be made via Auto-Debit, JomPay, Cash Deposit Machine, ATM Transfer, Internet Banking, Interbank GIRO (IBG), or instant transfer. Auto-Debit is probably the most hassle-free option, and you can authorise Icon Everest Credit to debit your account directly each month.
What happens if I miss a payment?
Late payment charges of 1% per annum kick in from the day your payment is overdue. These are made up of Ta'widh (compensation for Icon Everest Credit's actual loss) and Gharamah (a deterrent penalty). The charges don't compound, and the Gharamah portion goes to charitable bodies rather than back to Icon Everest Credit — that's the Shariah-compliant way of handling it.
If the account is terminated, the full outstanding amount becomes due immediately. Icon Everest Credit can also refer the account to a collection agent or take civil action to recover what's owed.
Is Takaful coverage required?
Takaful isn't compulsory, but Icon Everest Credit encourages applicants to get covered as a precaution. If you go with an operator from their approved panel, the contribution gets deducted from your financing amount before disbursement. If you choose an operator outside the panel, you'll need to cover that cost separately and show proof of coverage.
Who can apply?
Malaysian citizens aged 26 to 65 with a minimum monthly income of RM1,700 (RM20,400 annually) are eligible. No guarantor or collateral needed.
