Note: Have your EA form ready. Your EA form will be provided by your employer and it will contain the details of how much income you’ll need to declare as an employee. Each company will issue a separate EA form, so if you have worked for more than one company in one year, you will have to have an individual EA form for each. We will show you how to fill up your tax form if you have more than one EA form later in the guide.

Step 4: Click on “2022: eForm BE have not been submitted” under the “e-Filing Form Status For Assessment Year” tab.

FAQs

This is my first time filing my income tax, do I need to register?
Yes, If this is your very first time, you’ll first need to register with LHDN. If you plan to do this manually, you can visit your LHDN branch and they will guide you accordingly. However, if you want to file your taxes online, navigate to “User Manual” on the MyTax website.

Can I amend my tax form if I made an error?
If you accidentally declared a wrong amount after you submitted your form you can still fix it. How you can make these changes depends on whether you filled in your form online or manually, or whether you amend them before or after the submission deadline.

  • For amendment before the submission deadline
Correction of any error made on the form submitted manually or online can be made by writing a letter detailing the mistake made and enclosing documents (purchase receipts, invoices, etc.) to support your application.

These documents must be submitted to the branch that handles your tax file.
  • For amendment within 6 Months from the submission deadline
The taxpayer is allowed to make self-amendments on information or assessment in the Income Tax Return Form (ITRF) submitted to IRBM on time by submitting an Amended Return Form (ARF) within 6 months from the due date for submission of the ITRF. ARF is to be submitted to the branch that handles the taxpayers income tax file.

Only taxpayers who have submitted the ITRF on time are allowed to make self-amendment and self-amendment is allowed only once for each year of assessment.

With this guide at hand, you should be able to tackle your registration and filing with ease! If you’re about to start the process soon, good luck! The deadline is still weeks away, but we strongly urge you not to wait until the last minute.
