5 Steps To Get A Suitable Insurance Policy For Yourself

  • By CompareHero.my
  • November 22, 2021

Previously, we wrote on why you should have an insurance policy for various things in life. You can check out that article here:

Related: 4 Reasons Why It’s Important To Have An Insurance Policy

So, let’s say you’re thinking of getting insurance for yourself now, but you don’t know where to start or how the whole thing works. In this article, we break down the process for you in 5 simple steps.

1. Use a comparison tool to find the insurance for you

Finding an insurance provider on your own isn’t the easiest thing. If this is your first time getting a policy, the fine details and terms can also be very confusing. Above all, you might not even know which insurance to go for.

In cases like this, the best thing to do would be to use a comparison tool. Comparison tools will list all your options, state the pros and cons of each and might even be able to recommend something for you based on your budget and needs. In case you didn’t already know, CompareHero.my is a comparison website that can help you decide on suitable financial products, including insurance.

2. Apply for a policy through an agent or a trusted 3rd party website

steps-to-get-insurance-policy-01

Once you’ve picked your preferred insurance provider, you can contact them or scout for a reliable insurance agent. Get recommendations from trustworthy sources and be on the lookout for scam agents. Be sure to ask the agent as many questions as you can so that you know exactly what you’re getting.

Besides talking to an agent, you can also sign up through a third party or comparison website such as CompareHero.my. All you need to do is leave your details with us and we;ll take care of the rest. We’ll then contact you to give you more information.

3. An insurance underwriter will analyse the risks in insuring you

Now regardless of how you apply for the insurance, before you actually successfully get your policy, an underwriter will need to decide if the company can assure you. What’s an underwriter, you ask?

They’re basically someone who will analyze all the risks the insurance company may face in insuring you. Essentially, they look at whether you qualify to be insured by the company or not. If you do qualify, they will then decide how much coverage you should get and how much of monthly premium you should pay.

4. Select your beneficiaries—the people who will inherit your insurance money

steps-to-get-insurance-policy-02

The main goal of getting insurance is to protect yourself financially, but another reason would be to ensure your next of kin might inherit what you leave behind.

Similar to when you write a will to pass down your inheritance when you’re no more, you can also decide who will get your insurance money later. It’s important to select your nominees because if you don’t, it can be a very difficult process for your family to receive that money; there’s a lengthy legal procedure which can take years to complete.

Each insurance provider may have their own rules and regulations regarding who you can nominate and how to go about it in the first place. Make sure to check with them before signing up for your policy.

5. Time to start paying your premiums!

Once all of the above is done, you would have successfully gotten your insurance policy. Congratulations! You’ll have to pay a fixed premium monthly to continue receiving coverage from your insurance provider. Make sure you don’t default on your payments or your policy could lapse or be terminated altogether.

5 Extensions That Can Help You Save While Shopping Online

  • By CompareHero.my
  • November 18, 2021

There’s one thing you can do if you shop on your desktop that you can’t really do on your phones (you could, but that involves jumping through different apps) — go hunting for the best value for money product. But if that entails having 10,000 tabs open while you search for treasure, then you’re doing it wrong.

Browser extensions exist for a reason, and it’s time to make use of them to make your online shopping experience a much cheaper one.

1.  Honey

extensions-that-will-make-shopping-online-so-much-cheaper-01

Tired of scouring the internet for coupons? This is where Honey comes in. Honey automatically applies coupons for you at checkout so you never have to keep applying coupon codes that don’t work anymore. This browser extension works on your Chrome browser.

2.  Price.com

extensions-that-will-make-shopping-online-so-much-cheaper-02

If you’re already preparing for Black Friday sales, try out Price.com’s Chrome extension. Based in the US, it helps you search for the lowest priced product across the internet. The downside is that it focuses more on the United States’ ecommerce platforms, but if you’re a frequent eBay or Amazon shopper, Price.com can find you the cheapest option. It also works on Instagram, so if you’re looking to find something you saw on Instagram, Price.com can help.

3.  ShopBack Cashback Button

extensions-that-will-make-shopping-online-so-much-cheaper-03

ShopBack gives you cashback on your purchases, but there’s just one problem we face — we could forget to click through ShopBack for our cut of the pie. With the ShopBack Cashback Button, there’s no need to worry about forgetting about your cashback. This Chrome and Firefox extension will remind you when you’re on a website if you’d like to get some of your money back. Best part is it works on websites like Taobao (so you can start preparing for 11.11 Singles Day) and Airbnb so you could travel for even cheaper.

4.  RateX

RateX is great for if you want to know how much something costs in a foreign currency. You could even pay with RateX for comparable exchange rates, especially if you want to shop in a website’s currency to make things cheaper for yourself. It’s especially useful for shopping on websites like Amazon, eBay, and Groupon.

5. Smart Price Monitor

extensions-that-will-make-shopping-online-so-much-cheaper-05

Smart Price Monitor is especially useful for waiting for that price drop. If you frequent any marketplace or travel booking sites, the most infuriating thing is to get at a higher price and then have it drop right before your eyes. Never live that situation again with this Chrome extension because it’ll monitor price drops for you.

Ever come across different types of bank accounts—savings, current, fixed deposit, etc.—and wondered what they’re for? There are actually 4 main types of banking accounts in Malaysia, and each serves a very different purpose. You can read all about these accounts below.

Related: You Can Have 4 Types of Bank Accounts in Malaysia, But What’s Right For You?

Let’s focus on current accounts for now. A current account has many other names such as a transaction account or a checking account. These accounts are more suitable for businessmen compared to a regular savings account which has a lot more limitations. For one, current accounts are better for businesses that have multiple transactions taking place everyday.

Say hello to CIMB’s Business Current Account-i!

CIMB Bank has several types of current accounts catered to various customers. Their Business Current Account-i (BizCA-i) as the name suggests, is targeted to business owners in Malaysia. So if you fall under this category, this one’s for you. But what’s so special about BizCA-i?

For starters, you can open an account just about anywhere. You won’t have to physically walk into a CIMB branch as you can do this online at your own convenience. However, if you do decide to sign up at a physical branch instead, you’ll be able to get your account number within the same day.

Want to track and manage your business transactions easily? When you sign up for BizCA-i, you get complimentary statements each month.

Enjoy all the perks of BizChannel@CIMB

BizChannel@CIMB was created with the goal of simplifying a business’ transactions and payments and collating them in one place. Besides this, you’ll also be able to book foreign exchange contracts easily and lock your desired foreign exchange rates without a hassle. First off, you’ll get exclusive monthly hibah for the first 6 months after signing up. You will also have the opportunity to be rewarded up to 0.70% p.a. returns on your account-i balance.

Secondly, you’ll get a 6 months BizChannel@CIMB subscription & transaction fee rebate. The BizChannel@CIMB fee is usually RM20 a year and transaction fees aren’t always low, so this deal is quite a steal.

There are 4 domes here and each is named after a city in Sweden. The styling within the domes is also very Nordic, so if you want something Instagrammable, this is your place! If you’d like to visit some attractions nearby there’s the Kundasang Farmers’ Market and Desa Dairy Cattle Farm.
